After finding this story on CNN while walking home I could not help but to think my first story on veterans and the job market. In the video it tells you about veterans from the New York City area whole all served in several branches of the military in the last couple of years and mostly spent a tour or two in Iraq. When coming home back to the city the vets were saying how every job hiring was looking for one year or more of experience before even considering being hired. They explain its hard for vets to have that experience when your coming right back from on duty or tour. They say the money they make while serving will only last so long after your out and then you stop getting a paycheck and then have nothing. Being in NYC also does not help when considering the prices, transportation issue and more. The veterans banded together and started their own moving company, VM NYC (Veterans Moving New York City). With military like task and goals like time staring and ending moving projects and on to the next one to being able to get multiple projects done everyday. Each veteran liked it because it gave them that same sense of work ethic they had in the military and being able to apply it to back home life now with other veterans who understand both the civilian culture and military culture.
